artful weekend

Our weekend started off with a creative bang at Oak Grove's High School Showcase. It was amazing! I always stress before these events and worry and fret about every little thing. And then I see the art up on the walls, classrooms transformed into galleries, and my fears melt. My students never cease to impress me. Some of their work is pictured above.

Saturday, rather than recovering and reflecting on Friday's Showcase, Ian and I woke up with the sun and printed new shirts and scarves and hoodies for the Handmade Holiday Bazaar. Above is a photo of one of the designs in progress, being cut from rubylith for our old fashioned, hand pulled, screen print process. The new stuff's for sale, of course, in our Little City Etsy shop.


The Bazaar was great fun and we got to spend the day with other talented local artisans. I hope to show off some of their works on The Board in the days leading up to Christmas.

I just received fresh organic cotton swatches and am planning a new series of scarves in different colors. So I'm especially happy to receive praise for this design.

I absolutely love the silhouettes of papercutsbyjoe. This one is my favorite.

Precious Presents

Now that all the holiday gifts are finally opened I can share with you some of the highlights.

Among the best given were a perfect vintage shirt for my brother, with white glass snaps and just the right amount of sparkle. Another of my favorites were these owl face cuff links with crystal eyes, given to my sweetheart.

And as for me... I was absolutely spoiled with new treasures. Some of the most loved were these books of Dorothy Parker's poetry. They're so beautiful.

My collection of hair clips from Super Natural Flowers is growing like a weed.

This lovely green Gerber is my newest addition. That sweetie, Shannon, gave it to me.

Live Vibrant

Meet the lovely ladies of Live Vibrant, Melissa (right) and Joan. They make the fabulous beaded jewelry they are both sporting in this photo. Their pieces remind me of the vintage plastic jewels I've collected over the years, but with a modern touch. Check out the Live Vibrant Etsy shop.

If I had it to do over... and over... and over...

Sometimes I think I'd like to get married to Mr. C again and again, each time we'd be in a new location and I'd wear a different dress. I would get married 3 times over just to wear each of these lovely frocks by the Portland based designer sarahseven.

I am enamored with her creations and wish that I had an occasion glamorous enough to wear one. They are classic yet whimsical, modern with a touch of silver screen drama. Check out more saraseven designs in her Etsy shop.
