This new schedule of mine of killing me. I'm either treading water or going under and all the things I love to do have fallen by the wayside while I do the things I have to. I still would like to post all the photos from my little road trip, but it'll have to wait a bit.

At any rate, I hope you all had a lovely weekend.

while the Olympus is in the shop...

I had to take my digital SLR in for repairs yesterday. It got busted at school and was unusable. What a helpless feeling to hand it over and be told I might not see it again for maybe 4 weeks! It looks like I'll be relying on my purdy red point-and-shoot and my old analog Pentax for a while.

{The photo is of me with my Old old Pentax... the one my uncle gave me when I was 14 that was stolen while Ian and I were honeymooning in Costa Rica. I love that darned camera more than I love some people.}

Holga cameras used to be so cheap. I have a hard time justifying the purchase of a Holga camera at an inflated buy-this-hipster-lifestyle-accessory price... but this one is red.

Tonight is our first high school art show. I'm so excited. There will paintings, drawings and photos on the walls, and music filling the halls.

Blow Up {revisited}

I recently introduced my digital photo class to Blow Up.

It was strange to be watching it as a photo teacher rather than a student. Even stranger was leading the discussion and hearing myself ask the same questions once posed to me.

I'm still crazy for the London mod style in this flick. And I've still got my eyes peeled for a propeller to hang from the rafters.

Last week I had the pleasure of attending a talk given by Guy Webster, presented by Ventura's Focus on the Masters. It was amazing to see this man as a celebrity after knowing him so long as a teacher and mentor. I love hearing him tell the grand stories of his life and career in his humble and honest tone.

I especially love this one because it's of an old highschool friend and I'm almost certain I was there when it was taken. I remember it from a class sometime near Halloween when we all wore costumes to Guy's Ojai studio and took pictures.
