We rang in 2013 in India, ate dinner under the stars and danced around the bon fire until we were too tired to stand. This New Year's Eve was not quite so exotic, but just as full of light and love. Excited to see what adventures await us in 2014.

My Hero

This guy is my hero and the love of my life. He has been taking such good care of me since my spine got all outta whack this last week—running around like crazy with me limping and wincing in tow. My folks are pretty darn amazing too, but really, most of the weight of my total helplessness has fallen on this guy. And he just keeps telling me it's no problem, that it's all going to be OK. And that he loves me.

Tradition

Our handmade Valentine tradition continues. These bear a strong resemblance to last year's love notes.

Mr. C and I have no grand plans for this Valentine's day. He works. I work. Maybe we'll exchange hand made cards, as is our tradition. We really have so many great days together... any random Wednesday could lead to a lovers adventure. It's like everyday is Valentine's Day.

Also, today is my ma's birthday. So she gets our love and attention too.

Livin it up with my man in San Francisco this weekend. Tomorrow's our third anniversary of tying the knot. I do so love being a July bride.

Of everything I'm missing while out on the road, I pine for Mr. C the most. Without a doubt.

I came home today to a handmade Valentine from my sweetheart...

... and he came home to one from me.

Mr. C and I have been dreadfully ill for these days leading up to the St. Valentine Holiday. We really we're too bad off to plan anything super special. But I love that rather than running out to buy each other last minute gifts, we both took time out of our days to hand craft true-love Valentines. I sure love that man.

I finally saw the animation feature Up this Sunday.

The imagery was whimsical and stunning...

... but it was the love story that truly took my breath away. Heartbreaking, beautiful and sincere... it made me cry alligators.

I feel I have some explaining to do about why I have abandoned The Board. There are some very good reasons for my absence, but I just don't feel like talking about it.

I will tell you this though... sometimes when I'm not here, at my computer, I walk on the beach and get my bare feet wet.

When I'm alone, I collect treasure for my sweetheart.

And when I'm with my sweetheart, we collect treasures together. And we can gather twice as much. We were like sea glass pirates last Sunday.

somewhere between here and heaven

I'm leaving today for a week of camping in El Capitan. And while I'm enjoying the sea and sand, Ian will be mixing with the bike elite in Las Vegas. I think it's the longest we have spent apart from one another since he moved back from Virginia and we fell in love.

So while I'm missing my honey, I thought I'd share with you this moment from our epic summer adventure. This one is from somewhere on the road to Wyoming.

Sundays are for Lovers

Last Sunday, Ian and I lived it up at the Bacara—this intensely fancy hotel just north of Santa Barbara.

We sipped cocktails on the veranda and walked the hotel's private beach path. It was pretty epic.

Some little part of me wishes we could spend every Sunday at over the top resorts. But the bigger part of me knows that Mr. C and I could have fun anywhere. And we do.

sweet serenade

This past Friday I witnessed a husband serenading his wife in front of hundreds of people. He played his guitar and sang in an honest voice of his love for her. All this as their friends, family, kids and grandkids watched. Oooh, I was so romantic. It made my heart ache with happiness for them.

I'm trying to remember the last time I was serenaded... seems like it's been a while. What about you? When was the last time some one said 'I love you' through music? I'd swoon to hear your sweet stories of song.
