Enjoy the blue moon New Year's everyone! We won't see another until 2028. I hope you are all spending the holiday in good company and making toasts for love and good luck. Cheers.
Rarely am I jealous of a cartoon's dress. But, oh boy, that dress that Felicity Fox wears in Fantastic Mr. Fox is fantastically adorable. I just saw the stop motion film again last night and it was just as fantastic the second time 'round. If you haven't seen it yet you simple must.
So sorry for my long silence. I've given myself slaps on the wrist for not being a better blogger. My excuse is distraction... between my mother being ill and the holidays and what not I just haven't been focused on The Board. At any rate, I hope you all had wonderful holidays and I can't wait to hear what presents you all gave and got.
Above is a photo of my Christmas Eve pie, named 'Cracked Custard' for obvious reasons. This was the first sweet potato pie I've eaten warm and it was quite delicious, especially when shared with good company.
So, today's is a bit of a personal post. My mom is having complications from a surgery that should have been routine. I know she'll be OK, but it's always always stressful to have a mom in the hospital. I thought I'd take a moment to tell you all how impressive my dad is.
He's spent the last days in waiting rooms and next to sick beds, taking breaks only to nap and devour left over penne puttanesca. He's like on of those old timey heros, lookin' out for his lady, doin' what needs to be done.
{photo is of my pops at the Folk Art Museum of Santa Fe... he's posing in an exhibit on Carnival}
All the woes of the week have melted away with this glorious sunshine. Oooh, how I just love a mid December heat wave. Here's to an Indian Summer weekend full of dancing and smiling good times.
The lovely Kate Moss remarked "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels." She must never have had raspberry peach pie. This one was made for my parents' anniversary, thus the name.
It's the first big rain of the season. I'm enjoying the sound of the roof runoff and wishing I knew where my umbrella was.

Happy shopping to all you bargain hunters and good luck with your retail adventures. I will not be joining you. Instead I will be eating leftovers and avoiding crowds.
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I know I did. Did anyone out there have particularly exciting adventures?
I'm keeping my good time Sunday mood with this fantastic little video. I've always loved Christopher Walken, but I never knew he could dance before this collaboration with Fat Boy Slim and Spike Jones.
Just when I was really questioning the value of social networks, an old friend found me. Here's to you Mr. Parker. You have saved my Facebook account from almost certain destruction and you have renewed my faith in the system.
Dang, it has been a while since I posted. Flu season and November mayhem have got me longing for sunnier days. I'm looking at old pie photos and thinking of August heat. This series makes my mouth water.
It all started with the freshest farmer's market peaches and the loveliest blueberries...
... and it ended in oozing deliciousness.
The big pie contest is this weekend. Not sure which pie to make yet. Any suggestions?
Meet the lovely ladies of Live Vibrant, Melissa (right) and Joan. They make the fabulous beaded jewelry they are both sporting in this photo. Their pieces remind me of the vintage plastic jewels I've collected over the years, but with a modern touch. Check out the Live Vibrant Etsy shop.
