curiouser and curiouser

I have felt the need for some escapism lately, and whenever that happens I think about Alice.

wonderland
I love Alices adventures,
whether they be in Wonderland or Through the Looking Glass.
When I was little, I watched the old black and white movie with W.C. Fields as Humpty Dumpty so many times that I wore our Beta tape.
Here are some images from Burton's interpretation, due in theaters next year.

alice
Mia Wasikowska plays Alice. I did a little dance of excitement when I found out Alice would be reincarnated by a girl with my name.

the mad hatter
Can anyone imagine Tim Burton's Mad Hatter played by another? It has to be Johnny Depp.

the queen of hearts
Helena Bonham Carter, who can do no wrong and seems to steal every show, will be the Queen of Hearts.

the white queen
And the Oh sO lovely Miss Hathaway will be the White Queen.
There are more delightful images at here and they are all courtesy of Disney.

  1. we went to see g-force 3d on monday, and they had a preview for this movie in 3d. it looked awesome. the 3d movies that they have been doing lately is actually pretty good. coraline was incredible in 3d. but this looks like it will be pretty good. just the part with the cheshire cats head floating out of the screen at you was pretty neat.

have you ever seen the computer game american mcgees alice? it is a little older, not sure if you can run it on a mac or not. kind of an interesting take on wonderland...

  2. I haven't seen the game nor the 3D preview. But I was super excited to see a preview online when it finally came out.

I've missed many of the 3D versions of movies, but this might be one that I splurge on.

  3. I thought you'd like the new Alice actress when I read who'd be playing her. :)

  5. This movie looks great! Is it just me though, or does Johnny Depp look like Elijah Wood there? I think it's the intense eyes and gap teeth - ha.
